DRAFT International Rules and comments
The purpose of these pages is to provide an efficient method of distributing the Proposed IAA Rules and receiving organized and timely feedback. The following links and pages are set-up so that all the sections can be read and commented on online and the comments are visible to all members. The Proposed Rule text can only be changed by Peter Duncan. He will endeavor to keep the online version current, but the most accurate and up do date version is the downloadable PDF copy available at the link below: Proposed International Rules.
Readers should understand that the new ISAF format is quite different than the format of the current rules. It will take a bit of getting used to in order to navigate the new rules and find where each item from the current rules is placed in the new rules. Please read through the whole set of rules once before commenting. You will often find the item that appears to be missing is placed later in the ISAF format.
The following downloads are available as helpful references:
Current Albacore class rules (2004 version) can be downloaded from the RYA website here (232 kB).
PROPOSED International Rules in one document as formatted text can be downloaded from here (1 465 kB).
Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) referenced in the rules can be downloaded from here (3 263 kB).
A large group of class members (listed below) have been invited to review and comment on these rules in an effort to eliminate as many errors and discrepancies as possible, but certainly a few have been missed. Please use the comment fields to address any additional errors you may catch. Please DO NOT comment about ways you would like to see the rules changed now or in the future. Such comments will be ignored or deleted as they are not part of establishing the International Rules so that they are equivalent to 2004 rule and established practices in the class. Please read FAQ and Introduction for more information. Use the menu at the left to navigate through Parts I, II, and III of the rules.
