Kerr Dam Fun Daze

June 19-22 2008

Remember going to summer camp? Remember all the fun, but all the rules those grown-ups made you follow? Well, guess what! Now you can go to camp and have even more fun, since you’re a grown-up and there are no rules (or at least not many).

Kerr Lake is a huge reservoir offering beautiful sailing in clean, sweet water. The Albacore Fleet has enjoyed camping here for over 25 years. We traditionally go on Fathers’ Day Weekend. Facilities include a launch ramp, hot showers, flush toilets, and campfire pits. You can usually beach your boat right next to your campsite.

Kerr offers us the opportunity to have fun events, such as capsize races, drag races, and backwards races, that serve as excellent training. If your boat capsizes, the water is warm and it’s deep enough that you won’t stick your mast in the mud. We also do social sails to islands, swim, get together at night for a campfire, and get the chance to relax together. This is a perfect event for family and friends.
